Japan in the Spotlight with Big Electronics Industry Events

Asia’s leading forum for electronics manufacturing and R&D technologies occurs every January at Japan’s iconic Tokyo Big Sight. With over 1,800 exhibitors and nearly 90,000 visitors, the event is half the size of the massive CES show in Las Vegas.  Seven specialized exhibitions, each catering to a unique segment of the electronics industry, offered something for everyone in the field.

The 11th Wearable Expo Japan showcased a comprehensive range of wearable technologies, including smart glasses, smartwatches, smart bands, smart wear, healthcare devices, powered exoskeletons, and wearable cameras. The fusion of AI, biosensors, and data analytics was a central talking point.

Since the entire electronics forum in Japan was attended by professional manufacturers, not consumers, topics such as electronic components, printed circuit boards, semiconductors, sensors, processing technologies, development software, AR/VR technologies, and inspection/testing/measuring technologies received wide attention.

Standout innovations included the world’s smallest Bluetooth low energy module, ultra-thin batteries designed for sleek, lightweight applications, and wearable robotic suits designed to enhance worker safety and reduce fatigue in physically demanding industries.

The big takeaway: One of the most talked-about sessions at the expo explored the intersection of AI, wearables, and workplace health. With corporate wellness programs rising, companies increasingly invest in wearables to promote a healthier and more sustainable workforce.

Japan has long been a global leader in wearable technology, and Wearable Expo 2025 reaffirmed its position at the forefront of innovation. Beyond the futuristic concepts, the expo highlighted a significant shift in our perception of wearables. These devices are no longer just accessories but essential tools for health and wellness, workplace efficiency, and industrial safety. Wearables are becoming more discreet, intelligent, and deeply integrated into our daily lives – something we wear, live with, and rely on.

The 17th edition of Automotive World Japan  brought together industry giants and innovators shaping transportation’s future.

Beyond the exhibits, the conference agenda covered everything from electrification to sustainable mobility. Some key themes took center stage:

The Automotive Electronics (CAR-ELE JAPAN) theme explored semiconductors, sensors, and electronic control unit innovations. Industry experts discussed how advancements in these areas are driving smarter, safer, and more efficient vehicles.

The Connected Car JAPAN theme delved into the technologies that make connectivity possible. Topics included vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication and how IoT integration is redefining the driving experience.

The Autonomous Driving Technologies theme offered sessions focusing on the latest advancements in LiDAR, radar, and AI-driven navigation.

For example, the Chinese DeepRout.ai company presented its Vision-Language-Action (VLA) Model: Combining vision, language, and action, the VLA model enables the smart driving system to recognize and describe the road environment, understand complex scenarios, and perform advanced logical reasoning. This model enhances safety, cognitive abilities, human-like behavior, and decision-making transparency.

NEPCON Japan 2025 expo served as a hub for developments in IoT solutions, highlighting applications in smart factories, connected devices, and intelligent systems.

Leading companies such as Intel, Samsung, and Qualcomm shared insights into the future of electronics manufacturing. Topics ranged from AI in automation to integrating IoT technologies, providing attendees with actionable takeaways to implement in their work.

For example, Koh Young Technology showcased its AI Smart Factory Solution, illustrating the convergence of AI and IoT in manufacturing and emphasizing real-time data collection and analysis, enabling predictive maintenance and enhanced operational efficiency.
